FAQs

What appliances does Moonglow repair or service?2020-04-09T22:14:47+00:00

We can repair and service nearly all major household appliances of any brand.

Is the service/trip charge waived if I authorize my appliance repair?2020-04-09T22:15:43+00:00

Our service fee is waived if you elect our repair service (which often can be conducted during that very same visit!), leaving your costs to include only parts, tax and labor.

What is the cost for appliance repair?2020-04-09T22:14:24+00:00

An estimate can only be provided after one of our appliance repair technicians inspects and diagnoses your appliance in person. Our service fee is waived if you elect our repair service (which often can be conducted during that very same visit!), leaving your costs to include only parts and labor (and, technically, tax). You will be provided with the total cost before any repairs are conducted—and you never have to worry about hidden fees with us! We are upfront and transparent about our service costs.

I think my refrigerator is low on Freon; it is not cooling properly. Is it low on Freon?2020-03-17T20:59:11+00:00

This is a common misconception—appliances that cool (air conditioners, refrigerators, etc.) do not “use up” Freon. They actually cycle the Freon through its system—using the same amount of Freon over and over again through a sealed system. It is important to note that there are other causes for poor cooling that could have nothing to do with Freon levels. A service visit and appliance inspection from one of our highly trained and experienced appliance repair technicians will identify what is wrong and the best course of action.

Is repairing my appliance really a good investment or should I replace it?2020-03-17T21:02:24+00:00

This can depend on the appliance and what is wrong with it. For large appliances, like refrigerators and washing machines, repairs often are a better (and cheaper) alternative than replacement. When you have an older model that begins to give your trouble, considering repairs is still a very viable option. Older appliances are better built and easier to work on should a repair ever come up. Like vehicles, after some time, service, repairs, and replacement of parts are just a part of appliance ownership.

Opting for a repair over a replacement is also the more environmentally friendly option, keeping your appliance out of a landfill when it can be easily salvaged. We provide an honest assessment and let you know when it doesn’t make sense to repair.

Do I have to leave a space between my appliance and the wall?2020-01-03T04:45:43+00:00

For some appliances, a space is needed for ventilation. If there is a metal grid on your refrigerator, leave a one-inch gap between the appliance and the wall. Other appliances use vents and ducts (like a clothes dryer) to ventilate and space may be needed to accommodate these features.

My clothes washer is running cold on the warm water cycle—is it broken?2020-01-03T04:45:55+00:00

Probably not. To produce the “warm” water, your washer actually combines hot and cold water (it does not heat the cold to a warm temperature) in order to produce the right middle ground temperature. During winter months, the cold-water source is often much cooler than normal. This causes the resulting “warm” to be colder than normal.
